1. Information We Collect

Information You Provide Directly

• Birth Data: Date of birth, time of birth (optional), and city of birth. This information is used to calculate your natal chart and generate personalized astrological readings. Birth data is used solely to calculate astrological charts and generate readings within the Service. We do not use birth data for identity verification, biometric profiling, or advertising purposes.
• Account Information: Email address, password, and display name when you create an account.
• Relationship Data: If you use our synastry (compatibility) feature, you may provide the birth data of another person. You are responsible for obtaining that person's consent before submitting their information. See Section 8 for details.
• Chat Conversations: Messages you exchange with our AI guidance system (“Vera”) are stored to provide personalized responses and improve your experience.
• Payment Information: When you subscribe or make a purchase, payment details are collected and processed by Stripe, Inc. We do not store your full credit card number, expiration date, or CVV on our servers.
• Context and Preferences: Any additional context you provide during onboarding or through chat interactions.

Information Collected Automatically

• Usage Data: Pages viewed, features used, session duration, and interaction patterns within the Service.
• Device and Browser Information: Browser type, operating system, device type, screen resolution, and language preferences.
• IP Address: Collected for security, fraud prevention, and approximate geolocation purposes.
• Cookies and Similar Technologies: We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to maintain your session, remember preferences, and analyze usage patterns. See Section 6 for details.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Calculate your natal chart and generate personalized astrological readings, transit updates, and forecasts
• Power AI-generated chat responses through Vera, our guidance system
• Process payments and manage your subscription
• Send transactional emails (account confirmation, password resets, subscription receipts)
• Send product-related communications (reading delivery, transit alerts, weekly briefings) that you have opted into
• Analyze usage patterns to improve the Service
• Prevent fraud and maintain the security of the Service
• Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your personal information for third-party advertising.

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate Cosmic Vera. Each service receives only the minimum data necessary to perform its function:

AI processing requests are sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) solely for the purpose of generating responses. We do not permit third-party providers to use your personal data to train their models unless explicitly stated in their privacy policies.

Each third-party service is governed by its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review their policies.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored in the United States (Supabase US East region). We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted data transmission (TLS/SSL), secure authentication, and access controls.

If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States. By using the Service, you consent to the transfer of your information to jurisdictions that may have different data protection laws than your country of residence.

While we take reasonable measures to protect your information, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal, tax, or compliance purposes.

Anonymized and aggregated data that cannot be used to identify you may be retained indefinitely for analytical purposes.

6. Cookies

Cosmic Vera uses cookies for the following purposes:

• Essential Cookies: Required for authentication, session management, and security. These cannot be disabled.
• Analytics Cookies: Used by PostHog to understand how visitors interact with the Service. You can opt out of analytics cookies through your browser settings or by using a browser extension that blocks tracking.

We do not use advertising cookies or third-party advertising trackers.

Do Not Track: Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” setting. Because there is currently no industry standard for interpreting these signals, Cosmic Vera does not respond to Do Not Track signals.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:

For All Users

• Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Correction: Request correction of inaccurate personal data.
• Deletion: Request deletion of your personal data. You can initiate this through your account settings or by contacting us at hello@cosmicvera.com.
• Opt-Out of Communications: Unsubscribe from non-essential emails at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email.

For California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)

• You have the right to know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose.
• You have the right to request deletion of your personal information.
• You have the right to opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information.
• You have the right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights.

For European Economic Area (EEA) and UK Residents (GDPR)

• You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, and port your personal data.
• You have the right to withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent.

• Our legal basis for processing is: (a) performance of a contract (providing the Service), (b) legitimate interests (improving the Service, fraud prevention), and (c) consent (where applicable).

8. Third-Party Birth Data (Synastry)

Our compatibility feature allows you to enter another person's birth data to generate relationship insights. By submitting another person's birth data, you represent that you have obtained that person's consent to share this information with Cosmic Vera for the purpose of generating compatibility insights.

We treat third-party birth data with the same protections as your own. If the person whose data was submitted requests its removal, we will delete it promptly upon verification.

9. Children's Privacy

Cosmic Vera is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 18, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.

10. AI-Generated Content Disclosure

Readings, forecasts, chat responses, and other guidance provided through Cosmic Vera are generated by an artificial intelligence system. This content is for entertainment and self-reflection purposes only. Cosmic Vera does not provide financial, medical, legal, or professional advice. See our Terms of Service for full details.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy on this page and updating the “Last Updated” date. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
